Target Pistol Australia Adopts 2026 CMP Rule Book for Action Pistol Competition
Target Pistol Australia (TPA) advises members and competitors that Action Pistol matches conducted under its authority has adopted the 2026 Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Rule Book, effective immediately.
Competitors are specifically reminded of Rule 4.1.3 – Safety Features, which states:
“All factory standard safety features must be operable, except that M1911-type pistol grip safeties may be disabled.”
To provide clarity for competitors using M1911-style pistols, you may pin the grip safety and it is considered an acceptable method of disabling that specific safety feature, in accordance with Rule 4.1.3.
All other factory standard safety features must remain fully operable as required under the rules.
Target Pistol Australia encourages all competitors to familiarise themselves with the full 2026 CMP Rule Book to ensure compliance prior to competition.
