National Referee Council (NRC)

The National Referee Council (NRC) is the body within Pistol Australia (PA) responsible for ‘officiating’. As such, the NRC has developed and implemented range official’s courses covering all the events conducted under PA control. The PA range official’s qualifications currently available through the PA Affiliates include Range Officers and Judges A, B & C.

PA Range Officer

PA Range Officers have direct control of a range section and are responsible for the safe operation of that range section. PA Range Officer accreditation is available in the following categories:

  • ISSF (includes Mayleigh Cup)
  • Service Pistol (includes WA1500 Match)
  • Black Powder
  • Metallic Silhouette
  • Action Pistol

PA Judge C

PA Judges C officiate at competitions supervising the conduct of the competition; usually they will be under the observation of a PA Judge A or B. PA Judge C accreditation is available in the same categories as for PA Range Officer qualifications.

PA Judge B

PA Judges B officiate and are Jury members at competitions supervising the conduct of the competition; PA Judge B accreditation is available in the same categories as for PA Range Officer qualifications.

PA Judge A

PA Judges A may officiate as the Jury at PA National Championships. PA Judge A accreditation is available in the same categories as for PA Range Officer qualifications.

  • All PA events
  • Metallic Silhouette
  • Action Pistol

THE NATIONAL REFEREE COUNCIL

The NRC is also responsible for recommending rule changes to PA management. This includes formulation of rules for the PA events (PA Service and Black Powder matches), adoption of changes to international rules (Action Match, ISSF, Metallic Silhouette (IMSSU) and WA1500 matches) and formulation of any suggested variations for Australian conditions.

STATE OFFICIATING

In addition to the NRC the State Associations also have State Referee Councils (SRCs). While the NRC is responsible for appointing the Jury and supervising the PA National Championships and the qualification of PA Judges, the SRCs are responsible for appointing the Jury and supervising the Affiliate State Championship and Open competitions and the qualification of PA Range Officers.

NRC RESOURCES

The NRC has a number of resources available to all members – these are under the ‘NRC Resources’ tab.
