Pistol Australia is sending a development squad to the New Zealand National WA1500 Championships in Tauranga. The team leaves on Tuesday 21 March and will return on Monday 27 March 2023. The squad will compete as individuals under the supervision of the National Coach against athletes from New Zealand in their national domestic competition. The tour is a part of PA's new non ISSF development program which encompass the disciplines of Action Pistol, Metallic Silhouette and WA1500. The purpose of the program is to identify athletes who may in the future develop to an international standard higher enough to represent Australia. The squad is provided with coaching and training opportunities by the National Coach as well as a development tour to New Zealand. The tour will provide the National Coach with an opportunity to see how these athletes train, compete, travel and handle themselves in a short international trip. This will assist him to identify which athletes can progress in the squad program. The selection process for the three PA Development Squads is:1. Must not have represented Pistol Australia at senior level in that discipline.2. Must meet the pre-determined score at least once – varies from discipline to discipline – in on open certified and approved criteria competition not a local club competition for example.3. The National Coach will have the discretion to add a Junior, Female or Specialist to the squad if they believe they have the possibility in the future to progress to the National Team. The squad is being coached by the National Head Coach and former World Champions, Dean Brus. The team is managed by the National Team Manager, Lindsay Jones. The WA1500 Development Squad members travelling to New Zealand are:Andrew Miller, Craig Parke, Simon Taranto and Jeremy Kozak.Pistol Australia ...
