Purpose of the TPA Competition Code of Conduct Policy
Target Pistol Australia (TPA), together with all Member Associations (MA), is committed to providing all members of the Target Pistol community with a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment that promotes the physical, social, and emotional well-being of all participants.
The Competition Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected of competitors, coaches, parents/guardians, and spectators when participating in or attending competitions in Australia. It supersedes all other rules and is not appealable to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS).
The Competition Code of Conduct seeks to:
(a) promote sporting conduct among competitors, coaches, support staff, parents/guardians and spectators and respect for the spirit of Target Pistol Shooting.
(b) establish a framework for violations of behaviour standards.
(c) implement processes to manage incidents at Competitions involving competitors, coaches, support staff, parents/guardians and spectators.
(d) increase public confidence by consistently and efficiently dealing with behaviour incidents, and
(e) protect the image, reputation and integrity of Target Pistol Shooting in Australia.
The behaviours adopted by all stakeholders can help connect more people to Target Pistol Shooting. All Target Pistol Shooting stakeholders are encouraged to contribute to a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment and maintain standards of excellence, professionalism, humility, and integrity.
This is true not only for competitors but also for all members of the Target Pistol Shooting community (coaches, support staff, parents/guardians, and spectators). Poor spectator behaviour is considered as serious as poor competitor behaviour.
