VALE ALEX TARANSKY

1941 - 2017

Pistol Australia is sad to advise of the passing of Alexander George Taransky (Alex) aged 76 years quietly in his sleep 7/8th December 2017.

Alex Taransky was a member of SARPA and PA from 1961 and coached many of our National and State elite shooters to Olympic level.   Alex was the Director of the SARPA Coaching Council for more than 20 years and held countless coaching sessions for all grade athletes within SARPA Affiliated Clubs.  Alex also travelled to other States and overseas to share his knowledge and further advancing our Nation’s, and his own reputation, as a supporter of the sport of pistol shooting on a national and international level.

Alex was a triple Olympian having competed at the 1968 Mexico, 1972 Munich and 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.

His respectful and encouraging dedication to all level of skill sets has instilled the characteristic of good sportsmanship as part of his coaching methodology and this will be his legacy left to us all.

Alex Taransky’s reputation, and the respect in which he has been held within his State, Nationally and Internationally, is testament to the true champion that he became and he will be sadly missed and forever remembered through our cherished memories.

Our thoughts are with his family, Kate and Stuart, Nick and Miri, Joe and Griff, and Chris and his many friends.

 RIP Alex.
